Purpose of establishment

Article 34 of the National Sports Promotion Act, Article 6 of the Korean Paralympic Committee by laws


  • Developing Lifetime Sports as healthy leisure activities to improve the health of people with disabilities
  • Developing Elite Sports through guidance and management of sports organizations by event and each type of disability
  • Contributing to social inclusion through sports, and developing para sports and culture for people with disabilities in seoul

History

  • 2006
    • Jul Transferred the task of disabled sports (Dept of welfare for the disabled -> Dept of Sports Policy)
    • Nov Established plans for activating disabled sports
  • 2007
    • Mar Held the 1st board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled (establishment)
    • Apr Approved as a Seoul branch of Korea paralympics committee (President Oh, Se-hoon)
    • Aug Held the 2nd board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
  • 2008
    • Jan Held the 3rd board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
      - Approved 18 member organizations (14 main member organizations, 3 cooperating member organizations, 1 recognized member organization)
    • Jun Held the 4th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
      - Approved 5 additional member organizations (5 cooperating member organizations)
  • 2009
    • Jan Held the 5th Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
      - Approved 1 additional member organization (1 cooperating member organization)
    • Feb Signed on sports exchange agreement with 3 Asian countries
    • Feb Assigned certificate center of social welfare voluntary work
    • May Signed sports exchange agreement with Pakistan and india
    • Aug ~ Sep Performed training for sports instructors of disabled sports
  • 2010
    • Jan Hired 32 full-time sports instructors of disabled sports (15 new employees)
    • Jan Held the 6th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
      - Approved Nowon sports association for the disabled, approved 1 additional member organization
         (1 cooperating member organization)
    • Mar Established wheelchair basketball team in Seoul business sports team
    • Apr Nominated Kwon, Yeoung-jin as a second vice president
    • Jul Established monthly magazine for disabled sports in Seoul titled Seoul D-sports
    • Jul Held the 7th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
      - Approved 1 additional member organization / 2 recognized member organizations
         (Taekwondo, billiard)
    • Oct Held international sports exchange competition with Thai paralympics committee
    • Oct Performed consignment management of Yeoeuido Hangang park golf course
  • 2011
    • Jan Held the 8th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
      - Approved 2 additional member organizations / 1 main member organization
         (Association of disabled athletics federation)
      - Approved additional 3 cooperating member organizations (Association of disabled waterski federation, association of disabled Taekwondo federation, association of disabled table tennis federation)
      - Nominated 2nd generation of executives (secretary general, 17 consecutive directors, 7 new directors, 2 new audits)
    • Oct Nominated Park, Won-soon as a 2nd president

    • May Held the 9th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Jun Held the 10th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled

      - (approved Jongro-gu, Seongbuk-gu and Yangcheon-gu sports associations for the disabled)
    • Dec Held the 16t board of directors of Seoul sorts Association for the Differently-abled
      - (Gangdong-gu, Songpa-gu and Gangnam-gu sports associations for the disabled)

    • May Held the 17th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Jun Held the 18th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Jul Held the 19th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Aug Held an inauguration ceremony for Park, Eun-soo, the 4th vice president of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Oct Signed on business agreement with Myanmar paralympics committee and with Vietnam Hochiminh city Culture, tourism and sports office

    • May Held the 1st meeting of representatives of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Apr Held the 20th board of directors of Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled
    • Sep Performed international sports exchange upon invitation from Myanmar paralympics committee
  • 2016
    • Jan Hired Korea's first 5 "Sports for-All Assistant Coaches" for the developmentally challenged
    • Mar Hosted the 21st Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled Board of Directors Meeting-Approved the branches of 3 para sports committees in Seoul's autonomous districts : Gangbuk, Gangseo, Seongdong
      Hosted the 3rd Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled General Assembly of Founding Representatives-Established Seoul Para Judo Committee and Korea Deaf Sports Federation Currently: 35 approved member organizations(full members:25, associate members:5, approved:4)
    • Aug Established wheelchair Curling team in Seoul business sports team
    • Nov Hosted the 22nd Seoul sports Association for the Differently-abled Board of Directors Meeting – Approved the branches of 2 Disabled sports Associations in Seoul's autonomous districts : Gwanak gu, Seodaemun gu
